Description: The Sapta Lochana Tara is enlightened being appearing in the form of young goddess. The main attraction of this painting is Halo/ Aura (Prabha Manadala). The meticulously drawn throne back which enhances the halo as a significant feature of traditional Newari art. This halo includes Cheppu image on the top and Makars (Hiti Manga) on the both sides. We also see the two bells and one lighting lamps on right side and left side respectively. Sapta Lochana Tara sits cross-legged in meditation. She is on the lotus flower which symbolizes purity. She has seven eyes in total. Her third eyes in the center of her forehead, symbolizing the awakening of her vision as an enlightened being. She also has eyes in the palms of her hands and on the soles of her feet. These symbolize that although she offers help in the world, she does not do so blindly, but is able to help people move towards awakening. Her right hand is in Varada Mudra. Her left hand holds the stem of a blue lotus which blossoms above her shoulder. Here a lotus flower is made up of silverand crown and other jewelries are made up of gold.

Her mantra is “Om Tare Tuttare Ture Mama Ayuh Punya Jhnan Pustim Kuru Svaha”
